About:
We are all a product of our past, right? Who we are comes from where we were. So…here’s a bit of my story, and how I got here.
I’ll start in college where I was studying literature at George Washington University and in my spare time, scratching a creative itch (so to speak) making hand-made tops to wear using old, thrift shop t-shirts. To make a long story short, I sold a few, and then I sold some more and before I knew it (even before I graduated) I had a business on my hands: eve*lynn. In its lifetime eve*lynn grew to more than just t-shirts, enjoyed a level of recognizable success and achieved a good amount of attention in publications such as The New York Times Sunday Styles Section and Elle Magazine among others. Unfortunately, while eve*lynn was a phenomenal experience, it was not my true passion and so, eventually, it fizzled and I closed the doors on eve*lynn.
I took a couple months to clear my head and figure out my next move. The down time did not last very long as that creative itch returned and before long I was antsy to get something new in the works.
On my honeymoon in Greece, I dragged my husband through tons of tiny antique shops, scouring the shelves, convinced my next move would somehow involve updating antique jewelry. While antiquing, I came across some beautiful ancient coins and set out to collect as many as possible intending to use them as pendants. As soon as I returned to New York, I signed up for a goldsmithing course and made it my business to learn the craft. In the midst of learning classic jewelry making techniques, I came up with the idea for Kessef.
